THE GREEN RESIDENTIAL AREA
No gravel pits, cars in the front yard, or a whole host of differently landscaped gardens, but a colorful and vibrant planting scheme running the entire length of the block to brighten up the street! In this project, we're renovating 150 front gardens of rental properties to enhance the lives of residents, passersby, insects, birds, and small animals.
With even more green front gardens on the horizon, an interactive map will soon be available showing what's growing and blooming on each street. This way, you can take a lovely walk through Hulst and enjoy the ever-changing front gardens in every season .
All plants have been carefully selected. They are drought-resistant, provide privacy for the residents, and there's something in bloom every season.
The Hulst Housing Association dares to think differently. "We don't want cars and gravel pits in the front gardens, but greenery." As a designer, my heart leaps at the sound of this sentence. I designed the front gardens so that it looks like one long strip of plants as you walk past on this paved street. By slanting the paths rather than straight, all the front gardens intertwine, blurring the hard lines so common in Dutch front gardens.
The beauty of working with plants is that you can create a certain atmosphere. For this plan, I went all out so everyone can see how it could also look in the street. Yellow , purple, blue, pink, and white flowers. Together, they instantly transform the streetscape into a cheerful, vibrant, and vibrant place.
